1. Overview
LawReach AI operates as a subscription-based SaaS (Software as a Service) platform. This Refund and Cancellation Policy sets out your rights and our obligations in relation to subscription fees charged through lawreach.ai.
This policy should be read together with our Website Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy, each of which are incorporated by reference.
Nothing in this policy excludes or limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 to the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)).
2. Subscription Plans
LawReach AI offers the following subscription plans:
- Aware: free tier with limited access (no subscription fee)
- Assured: paid monthly or annual subscription
- Ahead: paid monthly or annual subscription
Current pricing for paid plans is available at lawreach.ai/pricing.
Subscription fees are charged in Australian dollars (AUD), inclusive of GST where applicable, and are charged in advance at the commencement of each billing period (monthly or annual, as selected).
By subscribing to a paid plan, you expressly authorise LawReach AI to charge your nominated payment method on a recurring basis through Stripe, Inc., until you cancel or we terminate your subscription.
We encourage you to use the free Aware tier to evaluate the Platform before subscribing to a paid plan.
3. Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings at lawreach.ai.
Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid billing period. You retain full access to your paid subscription tier and all associated features until that date.
You will not be charged for any subsequent billing period following cancellation.
Cancellation of your subscription does not automatically delete your account or your data. To request deletion of your account and personal data, use the self-service account deletion feature in your account settings, or contact us at support@lawreach.ai. Data deletion is governed by our Privacy Policy. You may also request an export of your data before cancellation in accordance with our Website Terms and Conditions (clause 27).
If you cancel an annual subscription before its expiry, access continues until the end of the annual period, but no pro-rata refund is payable for the unused months, except as required by clause 5 or the Australian Consumer Law.
4. No Change of Mind Refunds
Because LawReach AI is a digital subscription service and access to the Platform is provided immediately upon payment, LawReach AI does not offer refunds for change of mind. This includes (without limitation) where you:
- decide not to use the Service after subscribing;
- are dissatisfied with the nature or quality of AI-generated responses as a general matter;
- forget to cancel before an automatic renewal charge;
- switch to a different or competing service; or
- no longer require the Service for any reason.
It is your responsibility to cancel your subscription before any renewal date if you do not wish to continue. Renewal charges that result from failure to cancel are not refundable.
5. Australian Consumer Law Remedies
Nothing in this policy excludes or limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
If the Service fails to meet a consumer guarantee under the Australian Consumer Law, for example, because the Service is not provided with due care and skill, is not fit for the purpose for which it was acquired, or is not supplied within a reasonable time, you may be entitled to a remedy.
Available remedies may include re-supply of the Service, a partial or full refund, or another remedy as required by law.
To make a claim under the Australian Consumer Law, contact us at support@lawreach.ai with:
- your account email address;
- the subscription tier and billing period in question;
- a detailed description of the failure or issue; and
- any evidence supporting your claim.
We will acknowledge your claim within 3 business days and aim to respond within 15 business days.
For the avoidance of doubt, dissatisfaction with the nature of AI-generated responses, including their accuracy, length, or scope, does not, by itself, constitute a failure to meet a consumer guarantee. AI responses are general legal information, not tailored legal advice, as disclosed in our Terms and Conditions.
6. Pricing Changes
We reserve the right to change subscription pricing at any time. We will provide at least 30 days' written notice of any price increase by email to your registered address and/or by notice on the Platform.
Annual Subscribers. If you are on an annual plan, any price increase will not apply until your next annual renewal date. You will complete your current annual period at the price you subscribed at. If you do not cancel before your renewal date, the new pricing applies from that renewal.
If you do not wish to continue at the new price, you may cancel before the increased pricing takes effect. No refund of previous charges will be payable.
6A. Upgrades and Downgrades
Upgrades take effect immediately and are charged on a pro-rata basis for the remainder of the current billing period. Upgrade charges are non-refundable once the upgrade has taken effect and access to the higher tier has been provided.
Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period. No credit or refund is payable for the difference in subscription price between your current tier and the downgraded tier for the remainder of the current period.
6B. AI Model Changes
LawReach AI reserves the right to change the underlying AI model or provider at any time. A change in AI model may result in differences in the style, scope, or quality of AI-generated responses. Such changes do not constitute a failure of the Service and do not entitle you to a refund or cancellation without the usual terms applying.
If we change to a different AI provider, we will notify you in advance in accordance with our Terms and Conditions.
6C. Free Tier
The Aware free tier is provided at no cost. LawReach AI may modify, restrict, limit, or discontinue the free tier at any time without notice. Changes to the free tier do not give rise to any compensation, refund, or credit.
6D. Regulatory Change
If a change in law or regulation requires LawReach AI to modify or restrict any aspect of the Service, we may do so without liability. Where a regulatory change prevents us from delivering a core feature of a paid subscription, affected subscribers on annual plans may cancel and receive a pro-rata refund for the unused portion of their current annual period.
7. Failed Payments and Account Suspension
If a scheduled subscription payment fails (for example, due to an expired or cancelled card), we may retry the charge and will notify you by email.
If payment remains outstanding for more than 14 days after the due date, we may suspend your access to paid subscription features until payment is received.
If payment remains outstanding for more than 30 days, we may terminate your subscription. In such circumstances, no refund is payable for any amounts previously charged.
It is your responsibility to maintain current payment details in your account. To update your payment method, log in to your account settings or contact support@lawreach.ai.
8. Billing Errors
If you believe you have been charged incorrectly, for example, if you were charged the wrong amount or charged after cancelling, contact us promptly at support@lawreach.ai with your account details and a description of the error.
We will investigate and, if a billing error is confirmed, issue a correction or refund as appropriate.
9. Chargebacks and Payment Disputes
If you have a concern about a charge, please contact us at support@lawreach.ai before initiating a chargeback or dispute with your bank, card provider, or Stripe. We will respond to billing concerns within 5 business days.
We will work cooperatively to resolve genuine billing concerns. Initiating a chargeback without first contacting us may result in:
- suspension of your account pending investigation;
- delay in resolving your concern; and
- termination of your account if the chargeback is determined to be unwarranted.
We reserve the right to dispute chargebacks that we reasonably believe are not supported by the facts or that are inconsistent with these Terms.
10. Fraudulent or Abusive Refund Requests
We reserve the right to refuse a refund request that we reasonably believe is fraudulent, fabricated, abusive, or unsupported by the facts.
We also reserve the right to refuse a refund request where the same account holder has previously received a refund in the preceding 12 months. Consistent with our Terms and Conditions (clause 6.6), a prior refund does not create an ongoing entitlement to refunds in similar circumstances. This clause does not limit your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
Where a refund request is found to be fraudulent or made in bad faith, we may terminate the account and pursue any remedies available to us at law.
10A. Termination for Breach: No Refund
Where LawReach AI terminates your account for breach of our Terms and Conditions (including breach of the Acceptable Use Policy), or for fraudulent, abusive, or unlawful conduct, no refund will be payable for any subscription fees already charged, including any unused portion of a current billing period. This is consistent with clause 6.4 of our Terms and Conditions.
10B. Discretionary Refunds
In limited circumstances, and at our sole discretion, we may choose to provide a refund where we consider it appropriate.
Any refund granted at our discretion:
- does not constitute an admission of liability;
- does not create an ongoing entitlement to refunds in similar circumstances; and
- may be subject to reasonable conditions.
11. Service Discontinuation
In the event that LawReach AI permanently discontinues the Platform, we will provide at least 30 days' written notice to all registered users.
Subscribers with prepaid annual plans who have unused subscription time remaining at the date of discontinuation will be entitled to a pro-rata refund for the unused portion, calculated from the date of discontinuation.
